Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 22

Since the beginning of the day on July 22, 93 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Russian forces are increasing their efforts in the Kramatorsk direction, according to the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
According to the General Staff, the border settlements of Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of Russia. Thus, today the enemy struck the town of Konotop with a Kh-59 missile.
Kharkiv region is under constant bombardment by enemy aircraft.
Since the beginning of the day, the Russians have conducted 11 air strikes from the Russian cities of Belgorod and Shebekino. They targeted the areas of the Ukrainian settlements of Cherniaky, Vesele, Lyptsi, Mali Prokhody, Hlyboke, Karaichne and Pytomnyk. The enemy also struck the town of Derhachi with an Iskander-M missile.
The situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russians launched six unsuccessful attacks near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions six times near Berestove and Hlushkivka. One battle is over, five more are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army conducted assault operations near the settlements of Torske, Novoserhiivka, Makiivka and in the area of Serebryansky forest. Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks, one of which is still ongoing near Makiivka.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked seven times near Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, Spirne, Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Pereyizne. Ukrainian troops repelled six attacks, and another firefight is ongoing.
The enemy is stepping up its efforts in the Kramatorsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, it has carried out 22 assault actions near Bondarne, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Minkivka, Vasiukivka, Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Bila Hora, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka. The defense forces repelled nine attacks, 13 more are ongoing. The enemy's losses are being clarified.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army attacked nine times near Toretsk, Zalizne, New York and Pivdenne. Eight battles are over, one is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians carried out assault operations near the settlements of Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Novoselivka Persha, Panteleimonivka, New York, Lozuvatske, Tymofiivka, Prohres, Vovche, Yasnobrodivka and Umanske. The defense forces are holding back the enemy's offensive and repelled 17 attacks, nine engagements are ongoing. The enemy's losses are being clarified.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked 10 times near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Paraskoviivka. Seven battles were completed, three are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy tried to breach the defensive line of Ukraine near Robotyne. As a result, the attack failed.
The enemy was also unsuccessful in the Prydniprovskyi direction, attacking twice the defensive lines of Ukrainian units on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
“The situation did not change significantly in other frontline directions,” the General Staff added.
Situation at the front and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, 117 combat engagements were recorded on the frontline over the past day, July 21. Almost 40 offensive and assault actions were repelled in the Pokrovsk direction.
Moreover, another 1050 Russian soldiers were killed over the last day. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia's losses in manpower exceed 567,000 individuals.
Also yesterday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 18 tanks, 17 armored combat vehicles, 51 artillery systems and other enemy equipment.
