Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 31
In Ukraine, there were 85 clashes on the front line over the past day. The enemy attacked most intensively on two fronts in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Overall, the enemy launched 17 missile and 83 aviation strikes and carried out 87 shelling attacks from missile artillery systems on the positions of our troops and civilian areas.
At the end of the past day, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine, using 11 UAVs of the Shahed type. With the efforts and means of Ukraine's air defense, 9 UAVs were destroyed, and by the morning of the current day, the enemy employed cruise missiles of various types for the strike. Data on the latest attack is being clarified.
During the past day, the following settlements were subjected to aviation strikes: Neskuchne in the Sumy region; Hryhorivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region; Novolyubivka in the Luhansk region; Terni, Stavky, Yampolivka, Rozdolivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Druzhba, Berdychi, Semenivka, Vodiane, Oleksandrivka, Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region; Malynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 100 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent our troops from being redeployed to threatening directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions.
In the Lyman direction, defenders repelled 6 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Terni in the Donetsk region and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 7 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 24 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Berdychi, Semenivka, Umanske, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske, where the enemy tried to dislodge our units from the occupied positions.
In the Novopavlivka direction, our troops continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and east of Vodiane in the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted to break through our troops' defense 36 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy carried out 5 attacks on the positions of our defenders in the areas of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the Russians attacked the positions of our troops on the left bank of the Dnipro River twice.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the Defense Forces aviation struck 4 air defense missile systems and 11 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, armaments, and military equipment.
Rocket forces units struck 4 radar stations, 1 command post, 1 concentration area of personnel, 4 air defense systems, and 1 enemy artillery system.
On the morning of March 31, for the second time in a week, the aggressor attacked Ukraine with cruise missiles from Tu-95 bombers. The missiles were aimed at western regions and were all shot down by air defense forces.
The Third Assault Brigade noted that the situation in the Avdiivka direction remains extremely difficult but controlled.
