Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 19
Ukrainian Forces successfully repelled 21 enemy attacks on the Bakhmut sector, maintaining control over the occupied positions in the Kherson sector. Missile units targeted two areas of the adversary's remote mining, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russians shelling
Over the past 24 hours, there have been 105 military clashes. The enemy conducted a total of 1 missile strike and 6 airstrikes, along with 62 artillery shelling using multiple rocket launcher systems targeting the positions of our troops and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are reported casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The town of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region was subjected to aerial strikes.
More than 140 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
The frontline situation
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains relatively stable without significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, actively engages in sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of our forces to critical directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 5 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian Forces successfully repelled 10 attacks by occupiers near Makiivka in the Luhansk region and to the east of Terniv and Spirne in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 21 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict losses on the enemy in terms of personnel and equipment, consolidating their positions at the achieved front lines.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders persist in containing the enemy, who continues attempting to encircle Avdiivka. Our troops steadfastly maintain their defense, inflicting significant losses on the aggressors.
The Defense Forces successfully repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas around Avdiivka and an additional 13 attacks near Severne, south of Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding the enemy at bay near Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 13 attacks were repelled.
There were no offensive (assault) actions reported on the Shakhtarsk front.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repelled 17 enemy attacks west of Novopokrovka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
In the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue actively engaging and inflicting losses on the occupying forces in terms of personnel and equipment. They are exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers maintain their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, conducting counter-battery warfare and delivering fire strikes on the enemy's rear positions.
Enemy losses
Over the past 24 hours, the air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed one guided missile, specifically an X-59.
Rocket units targeted and hit two areas of remote mining and one artillery piece belonging to the enemy.
The cumulative losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amount to 347,160 military personnel.
