Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 15

Russian attack

During the day, there were 82 armed confrontations. The enemy conducted two missile and 11 aerial strikes, along with 17 shelling incidents using multiple rocket launchers targeting Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements.

As a result of these Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.

Additionally, today the Ukrainian air defense forces successfully neutralized a guided missile, the X-59.

The situation on the front

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groupings. Identified units of the Belarusian armed forces are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts reconnaissance activities, fires on populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.

Over 20 populated areas, including Krasnyi Khutir and Hremiach of the Chernihiv region; Kruzhok, Volfyne, and Pokrovka of the Sumy region; Chervona Zoria, Kozacha Lopan, Lukiantsy, and Zelene of the Kharkiv region, have been shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight attacks by the occupiers in the area of Synkivka, the Kharkiv region. Around 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kupiansk, Ivanivka, and Berestove of the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks east of Terniv, Yampolivka of the Donetsk region, and Makiivka of the Luhansk region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Serebrianske forestry of the Luhansk region, and Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske of the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 15 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivka, Klischiivka, and Andriivka of the Donetsk region. Around 10 populated areas, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klischiivka, Andriivka, and New York of the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, aggressors unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defense of our troops. Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and 12 more attacks east of Stepove, south of Severne and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Sukha Balka, Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Maryinka direction, Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region. The adversary, with air support, carried out 12 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our defenders. Populated areas such as Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskeviiivka were under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Staromaiorske of the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine of the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Defense Forces repelled seven enemy attacks west of Novopokrovka and south of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Novodanylivka, Orihiv, Novoandriivka, Maly Shcherbaky, Piatyhatky, and Pivni, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

In the Kherson direction, the enemy conducted artillery shelling on Krinka, Ivanivka, Tyahynka, Antonivka, and the regional center of the Kherson region.

Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, maintaining fire on the adversary.

Losses on the Russian side

During the day, the Defense Forces' aviation conducted strikes on seven areas concentrating enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.

Units of the missile forces targeted four areas concentrating on enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as two ammunition depots of the adversary.
