Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 21

Ukrainian army continues to conduct an offensive operation on the Melitopol and Bahmut directions. They inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, wearing down the enemy along the entire front line, according to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
During the past 24 hours, 33 combat clashes occurred. The enemy carried out 4 missile strikes and 37 airstrikes, conducting 19 artillery shells using rocket systems of volley fire on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Additionally, during the night of November 21, the occupiers launched another attack on Ukraine, employing 4 guided missiles from the S-300, a cruise missile Iskander-K, and 10 strike UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. They were successfully neutralized by air defense forces.
Furthermore, the enemy targeted the port infrastructure of the city of Odesa and the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district in the Odesa region with X-31P missiles. Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential houses, the building of the Central City Hospital in Selydove, the Donetsk region, and the Kotlyarevska mine, as well as other civilian infrastructure, suffered destruction and damage.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no significant changes in the operational situation. No signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected. Identified units of the armed forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the areas of the settlements Leonivka and Popivka in the Chernihiv region. Approximately 30 populated areas, including Klyusy, Bleshnia, Leonivka, Buchki, Hremyach in the Chernihiv region, and Wolfine, Bilovody, Basyvka, Mohrytsia in the Sumy region, and Veterinarne, Budarky in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted assault actions in the areas of Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region, where 3 attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces. Over 10 populated areas, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the occupiers attempted to storm near Siever in the Donetsk region but were unsuccessful. The enemy delivered an aviation strike in the area of Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region. Approximately 15 populated areas, including Makivka, Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Yampilivka, Torske, Dybrova, Spirne in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 enemy attacks near Klyshchivka and east of Pivdennyi in the Donetsk region. Over 20 populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klyshchivka, Andriivka, Druzhba, Pivdennyi in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Severne, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, where 8 attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces. More than 15 populated areas, including Keramik, Berdychiv, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 15 attacks were repelled by our defenders. Populated areas of the Donetsk region, such as Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions west of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy conducted assault actions in the areas of Robotine and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region, without success. They delivered an aviation strike in the area of Urozhaine in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 25 populated areas, including Luhanske, Orihiv, Novodanilivka, Robitne, Kamianske, Prymorske in the Zaporizhzhia region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes near Zmiivka, Novoberyslav, and Kozatske. Artillery shelling affected Kherson, Berislav, Ivanivka, Ponyativka, Antonivka in the Kherson region, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region.
Advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol direction and advance on the Bakhmut direction. They inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, gradually wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
The defense forces maintain their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, continuing to deliver effective fire on the adversary.
Enemy losses
During the day, the Defense Forces' aviation struck a command post, conducted 6 attacks in areas of personnel concentration, weaponry, and military equipment, and carried out 2 strikes on the adversary's anti-aircraft missile complexes.
Units of the missile forces targeted 3 areas of personnel concentration, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as the enemy's ammunition depot, causing significant damage.
