Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 8

Ukrainian soldiers continue to advance on two fronts, repelling Russian attacks near Avdiivka and destroying 3 enemy anti-aircraft defense assets, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the past day, there were 57 clashes. In total, the enemy launched 2 missile strikes and 30 aerial attacks, and conducted 59 artillery shelling from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian areas.
Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged and affected. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population.
The Russian Federation once again attacked Ukraine, using a guided missile Kh-31. The missile strike targeted a civilian vessel.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains complex.
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation, and there are no signs of the enemy forming offensive groups. Units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border regions with Ukraine.
On the Siverks and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains a military presence in border regions, conducts reconnaissance and subversive activities, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border. Approximately 20 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kupiansk front, the occupiers conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the Synkivka area in the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian troops repelled 6 attacks. Around 10 settlements were exposed to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman front, the enemy carried out unsuccessful assault actions in the Novoiehorivka area in the Luhansk region and conducted an aviation strike near Spirne in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian defenders repelled 22 enemy attacks in Bohdanivka, Khromove, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted an aviation strike near Andriivka. Over 10 settlements were exposed to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions with aviation support in the areas of Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, where the Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks. The enemy carried out aviation strikes near Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Maryinka front, the enemy launched 15 unsuccessful attacks with aviation support in Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. They conducted aviation strikes near Oleksandropol and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Around 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions with aviation support near Staromaiorske and south of Prechystivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. They launched aviation strikes in the regions of Vesele and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kherson front, enemy artillery shelling targeted Kherson, Novoberyslav in the Kherson region, and Solonchaky in the Mykolaiv region.
The advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol front, conduct assault actions on the Bakhmut front, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
Over the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched 6 strikes on areas with a concentration of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, and 3 strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
Missile units inflicted damage to 8 artillery pieces, 2 ammunition depots, 4 areas with enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment concentration, 3 anti-aircraft defense assets, a radar station, 3 radio-electronic warfare stations, and another important target of the enemy.
The total number of losses for the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 307,640 military personnel.
