Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 15

Ukrainian troops continue to advance on two fronts, repelling a Russian attack near Avdiivka and destroying an enemy anti-aircraft missile system, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the past day, Russian occupiers launched 42 missile attacks, 44 airstrikes, and carried out 24 shelling with multiple rocket launch systems against the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population, including children. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have also been damaged.
Frontline situation
In the past day, there were 23 clashes.
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
On the Siversk and Slobodzhanske fronts, the enemy conducted an airstrike in the area of Stepne in the Sumy region. The Russians carried out mortar and artillery shelling on more than 20 settlements.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy launched unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas southeast of Vilshany and east of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region.
They conducted airstrikes in the areas of Ivanivka, Zahryzove, Vilshanka in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region. The enemy's artillery and mortar fire affected Kupiansk, Pishchane, Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region.
On the Lyman front, the enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Siversk, Spirne, Vesele in the Donetsk region. The settlements of Kolodiaz and Siversk in the Donetsk region were subjected to enemy artillery fire.
On the Bakhmut front, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vasiukivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Pivnichne of the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery fire.
On the Avdiivka front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas south of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. Airstrikes were carried out in the areas of Avdiivka and Nevelske. Over 10 settlements, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, were attacked with artillery.
On the Maryinka front, Ukrainian defense forces continue to restrain the Russian forces' advance in the areas of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted an airstrike in the area of Krasnohorivka. More than 10 settlements, including Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery fire.
On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the Urzhaine area of the Donetsk region. Airstrikes were conducted in the areas of Velyka Novosilka, Makarivka, Staromaiorske, and Urzhaine. Over 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region, experienced artillery fire.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Omelnyk, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements suffered from enemy artillery fire.
On the Kherson front, the enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Mykolaivka and Sadove in the Kherson region. Settlements such as Kherson, Poniativka in the Kherson region, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region experienced enemy artillery fire.
Ukrainian offensive
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdyansk fronts, consolidating their positions, and conducting counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses
Ukrainian military aviation conducted 7 strikes on enemy personnel, armament, and military equipment concentrations during the day.
Rocket and artillery units struck 2 artillery pieces in firing positions, 1 anti-aircraft missile complex, and another important enemy object during the day.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 254,920 soldiers.
