According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff on Facebook, the losses of Russia in the war in Ukraine by the morning of Tuesday, August 15, amounted to 540 troops, with the total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion reaching 254,920 military personnel. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a helicopter and 29 enemy artillery systems.

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 15.08.23 were approximately:

  • personnel ‒ about 254920 (+540) persons were liquidated,
  • tanks ‒ 4313 (+7),
  • APV ‒ 8370 (+16),
  • artillery systems – 5128 (+29),
  • MLRS – 714 (+0),
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems ‒ 482 (+3),
  • aircraft – 315 (+0),
  • helicopters – 314 (+1),
  • UAV operational-tactical level – 4242 (+29),
  • cruise missiles ‒ 1387 (+8),
  • warships / boats ‒ 18 (+0),
  • vehicles and fuel tanks – 7584 (+22),
  • special equipment ‒ 769 (+3).

Frontline situation

According to the General Staff's data, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, solidifying their achieved positions and conducting counter-battery measures. Over the previous day, more than 15 combat engagements occurred on the frontlines.

As reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian military forces have made progress in border regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions during counteroffensive operations. Meanwhile, Russian occupying forces are facing difficulties in fortifying their defensive lines due to a lack of reserves.
