Russia-Ukraine war: frontline update as of July 28
Ukrainian military continues to advance in the Zaporizhzhia region, and they have also successfully destroyed 2 enemy radio-electronic warfare stations, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past 24 hours, the enemy conducted 10 airstrikes and carried out 19 shelling attacks using rocket artillery on the positions of our troops and residential areas.
The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
Frontline situation
During the past 24 hours, there were 21 armed clashes.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no signs of offensive formations detected.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Halahanivka and Leonivka in the Chernihiv region, as well as Iskryskivshchyna and Volfyne in the Sumy region.
Over 15 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling, including Ivashky, Huriv Kozachok, Udy, Strylecha, Zelene, and Okhrimivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of Druzheliubivka in the Kharkiv region.
Settlements such as Kolodiazne, Dvorichne, Zapadne, Synkivka, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region experienced enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region.
Residential areas in Nekrasove, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne in the Donetsk region were targeted by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, over 15 settlements, including Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora in the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of Avdiivka. Over 10 settlements, including Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to repel the Russian troops' advancement near the city of Maryinka.
The enemy shelled over 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Pobieda, and Heorhiivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the occupiers shelled residential areas in Odradne, Blahodatne, Makarivka, Zelene Pole, and Novodarivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy concentrates its main efforts to prevent further advancement of our troops.
Over 25 settlements, including Chervone, Huliaipole, Charivne, Novoandriivka, and Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Kozatske, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, and Sadove in the Kherson region, were subjected to artillery shelling.
Ukrainian Forces' advance:
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidating their positions on the achieved frontlines. They are also conducting artillery strikes on identified enemy targets and implementing counter-battery measures.
Noteworthy events
Amidst the successful military actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and significant losses suffered by the occupiers in manpower, the number of refusals to participate in combat has increased among the units of the Russian occupying forces.
For instance, near the settlement of Rozivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, approximately 60 Russian servicemen from the 247th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 7th Airborne Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces refused to carry out combat missions in the area of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. As a result, the occupiers partially disabled their own automotive and armored equipment.
Enemy losses
During the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation delivered three strikes on the areas of enemy personnel concentration, and units of the missile forces and artillery hit eight artillery positions, two radio-electronic warfare stations, an ammunition depot, and a fuel and lubricants depot of the enemy.
As of the morning of Friday, July 28, Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine amounted to 560 occupiers, with the overall number of losses in the Russian army since the invasion beginning reaching 244,830 military personnel.
