Russia has officially announced the continuation of missile and drone strikes on Kyiv, according to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko.

Zakharova announces new strikes

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that strikes on Kyiv had been carried out and would continue. She also stated that the Russian Foreign Ministry would soon issue a special warning statement for foreign diplomats.

Ukraine’s response

Andriy Kovalenko called it an open announcement of terror against civilians using missiles and drones.

In his view, the statement was not made by chance. Ahead of the Kremlin chief’s visit to China, Russia had pretended to consider ending the war. Now, it is openly demonstrating the opposite.

Kovalenko also pointed out that the strikes on civilians are taking place amid Russia’s inability to protect its own territory, with missiles already reaching Moscow.

"This is happening against the backdrop of an inability to ensure security on its own territory, when even Moscow is already being hit. Through terror against civilians, Putin wants to disguise his inability to guarantee Russia’s security. And he is doing all this instead of ending the war," the statement said.

During the night of May 24, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine using 90 missiles and 600 drones, with Kyiv as the main target. Defense Ministry adviser Serhii Beskrestnov said there were more missiles than Ukraine’s air defense systems could intercept.

Meanwhile, all remaining fragments of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, which was used for the first time against the Kyiv region, have been collected and handed over to specialists for analysis.
