This afternoon, June 23, Russian occupiers launched a ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. There are already reports of fatalities and many wounded, some of whom are in critical condition, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s Defense Council.

Russia struck Kryvyi Rih around 11 a.m. Kyiv time.

"Kryvyi Rih—explosions. A ballistic missile attack. We understand the situation, and everyone is working. There may be further attacks," Vilkul says.

According to him, a Russian missile struck a civilian infrastructure facility.

"Unfortunately, three people were killed. More than ten people were injured," he says.

Later, the head of the City Defense Council provided an update on the consequences of the Russian attack.

As of 12:10 p.m., the number of injured had risen to 19.

According to him, five of the injured are in severe condition. All of the injured have been transported to medical facilities.

"Doctors are doing everything possible and fighting to save their lives," Vilkul notes.

He also reports that rescue workers had extinguished the fire that broke out after the strike.

All emergency services continue to operate at the scene.

Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih

Russians systematically attack the Dnipropetrovsk region with missiles and strike drones, and Kryvyi Rih regularly comes under Russian fire.

Recently, Russian forces once again attacked the city with Shahed drones. A 41-year-old woman was injured, and about 10 residential buildings were damaged, some of which sustained serious destruction.

Before that, the Russian army struck a residential building in Kryvyi Rih. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the strike cynical and said it made no military sense.
