Russia strikes residential building in Zelenskyy's hometown: Fatalities reported

On Tuesday, May 12, Russian forces struck a residential building in Kryvyi Rih. As a result of the attack, there are dead and injured, according to a statement by the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, and a post by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha.
"An impact on a residential building. There are dead and injured. An emergency rescue operation has been launched," his statement said.
Hanzha clarified that as a result of the Russian attack, two people were killed. He added that a fire broke out at the site of the strike, and the consequences of the attack are still being clarified.

Vilkul said that a Shahed drone made a direct hit on a residential building. As a result of the attack, a 43-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were killed.
"A nine-month-old baby girl had her leg torn off — she has already been evacuated to the hospital by ambulance and is receiving all necessary medical care. The fire has already been extinguished, and the aftermath is being cleared," he emphasized.
On the morning of May 5, Russian forces, despite the ceasefire declared by Ukraine, attacked Kryvyi Rih with Shahed drones, damaging infrastructure.
In the Nikopol district, the enemy attacked Nikopol, as well as the Marhanets, Pokrovsk, Chervonohryhorivka, and Tomakivka communities using drones and artillery. Administrative buildings, a hotel, an apartment, private houses, and cars were damaged.
Earlier, on the morning of May 2, occupying forces also struck Kryvyi Rih while attempting to target an infrastructure facility. The attack caused a fire in the city and damaged infrastructure.
Attack on Ukraine overnight on May 12
From the evening of May 11 to the morning of May 12, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 216 Shahed-type kamikaze drones, Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.
According to preliminary data, as of the morning, air defense units shot down or suppressed 192 enemy drones in the north, south, east, and center of the country. Hits from 25 drones were recorded at 10 locations.
