The Russian army struck a Mondelez International plant in Trostianets, Sumy region of Ukraine, on August 23. Two drone strikes damaged the factory buildings and injured several employees. No one was killed.

The injuries were minor and included cuts, said Yurii Bova, head of the Trostianets community. Three strikes were preliminarily recorded, damaging administrative and production buildings.
Foreign Ministry responded
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia's systematic and deliberate attacks on American business interests in Ukraine demonstrate that Russian aggression is not only a threat to Ukraine but also a direct attack on US economic interests in Europe.
According to him, the strategy for countering these threats remains clear: increase military support for Ukraine, including by strengthening its air defense capabilities, and exert maximum pressure on Moscow to end the war, including by passing the late Senator Graham's sanctions bill targeting Russia.
What the plant produces
The Mondelez International plant in Trostianets is one of the largest confectionery producers in Ukraine and the country's only dedicated chocolate factory with a full production cycle, from processing cocoa beans to packaging and shipping finished products.
The facility produces 138 products that are sold on the domestic market and exported to Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
In particular, the Trostianets plant produces Korona, Milka, and MaxFan chocolates, Barni biscuits, and Tuc, Oreo, and Belvita cookies. A Jacobs Douwe Egberts facility also operates on the factory grounds, packaging Jacobs and Carte Noire coffee.
As previously reported, Russia already struck the same Mondelez plant in Trostianets earlier this year. A missile damaged one of the production buildings at the time, but there were no casualties.
