Russia strikes Ukraine with Iskander and over 120 drones overnight, air defenses respond

On the night of January 10, Russia attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 121 attack drones launched from multiple directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 94 enemy UAVs, according to the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
According to the military, from 6:00 p.m. on January 9 until the morning of January 10, Russian forces launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile from Russia’s Kursk region and 121 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types, from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Chauda in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea. About 80 of the drones were Shaheds.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, drone units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., air defenses shot down or suppressed 94 enemy drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as other UAVs, in the north, south, and east of the country.
Direct hits were recorded from the ballistic missile and 27 attack drones at 15 locations, as well as debris from downed targets at one location.
"The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force warned.
Attacks on Ukraine
As previously reported, on the night of Saturday, January 10, Russian forces carried out another attack on Kryvyi Rih, striking several infrastructure facilities.
As a result of the overnight shelling, parts of the Saksahanskyi district and areas of the Pokrovskyi district remain without electricity. Emergency repair work continued throughout the night and is still ongoing.
Two people were injured in the attack, one of them in moderate condition.
The previous night, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region using dozens of drones, ballistic missiles, and Kalibr cruise missiles. The Air Force said the capital was attacked from multiple directions.
Overall, 19 apartment buildings were damaged in Kyiv, and the Qatari Embassy was also hit. Twenty-five people were injured in the Russian attack on the capital, and four were killed.
Emergency power outages were introduced across Kyiv due to the massive strike and network overloads.
