Russia strikes Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones overnight: Air defense's work reported

Overnight, Russia once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine with missiles and dozens of drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
On the night of August 19, beginning at 6 p.m. Kyiv time on August 18, Russia launched an attack with several types of weapons simultaneously. Specifically, the following were deployed:
- 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles
- 65 Shahed-type strike drones, including jet-powered ones
- Gerbea drones
- Banderol loitering munitions
- Parodiya decoy drones.
Russian attack was launched simultaneously from several directions: Kursk, Orel, the temporarily occupied Donetsk, as well as Hvardiiske and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
How many targets were shot down
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 56 Russian targets. These included Shahed and Gerbera drones, as well as other types of drones, and two Banderol munitions. The targets were destroyed in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.
Russian strikes were recorded at ten locations. Debris from the downed targets fell at three additional locations.
Ukrainian Air Force emphasizes that the Russian attack is still ongoing, and several Russian drones remain in the skies over Ukraine.
Recently, one of DTEK's thermal power plants came under a massive Russian attack on the evening of August 18 and completely ceased generating electricity.
The company noted that DTEK power plants had been attacked more than 230 times since 2022.
In addition, one person was killed, and six others were injured in Zaporizhzhia as a result of a Russian drone strike.
Russian strikes caused a fire and damaged residential and non-residential buildings in the city.
