Russia strikes Ukraine with ballistic missile and 116 drones overnight

On the night of May 20–21, Russia attacked Ukraine with a ballistic missile and over a hundred drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russia launched an attack from several directions:
- Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from the Rostov region
- 116 Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas strike drones
- Parodiya-type decoy drones
The launches were carried out from Kursk, Bryansk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and from occupied Crimea.
How many were shot down
As of 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukrainian air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 109 Russian drones. Among those shot down were Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones. They were destroyed in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.
A ballistic missile and five strike drones were confirmed to have hit five locations. Debris from the downed targets fell in four other locations.
Meanwhile, the day before, Russia had already launched strikes on Ukrainian cities. Dnipro and Kyiv were hit last night.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine explained why Shahed-type drones are able to reach as far as Zakarpattia. Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat discussed the routes and characteristics of these drones.
