Russia strikes Ukraine with 70 drones overnight: Air defense's work reported

On the night of October 17, Russia launched 70 drones at Ukraine, about 50 of them were Shahed drones. 31 Russian drones were recorded as having hit their targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Starting at 8 p.m. on October 16, Russian troops launched another attack on Ukrainian territory, using 70 strike drones of Shahed, Gerbera, and other models.
Russian attack was carried out from several directions - Millerovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea). About 50 drones were Shahed drones.
Russian air attack was repelled by units of the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare forces, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 9 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 35 Russian drones.
"31 strike drones were recorded hitting 10 locations, as well as the fall of downed (debris) at 2 locations," the report said.
Ukrainian Air Force warned that the attack is still ongoing, with several enemy drones remaining in the airspace.

Tonight, Russian Shahed drones launched a massive attack on Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 22 drones, but some of them reached their targets, with more than 10 hits on infrastructure facilities recorded.
Fires broke out in the city, and rescuers are working at the sites of the strikes.
Early in the morning, Russian troops attacked the city of Sumy with guided aerial bombs. As a result of the strike on the regional center, high-rise buildings were damaged, and a 56-year-old man was injured.
