On the night of October 17, Russia massively struck Kryvyi Rih with drones. The Russians carried out more than 10 strikes, causing fires in the city, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city's defense council.

"At night, Russia launched a massive attack on Kryvyi Rih with drones. Ukrainian air defense forces were operating in the region and in the sky above Kryvyi Rih, shooting down 22 drones. But there were also hits," the report says.

Vilkul specifies that the Russians struck infrastructure facilities in Kryvyi Rih. As a result, there were over 10 hits, and fires broke out at the facilities.

"All emergency services were dispatched to the scene. The fires were extinguished at all locations. Most importantly, thank God, there were no casualties. Other consequences of the Russian attack are being clarified, and the territory is being inspected," the head of the city's defense council wrote.

"The trolleybus to Myrivske is temporarily out of service due to a power outage, but a bus has been sent to replace it. In general, all services, public transport, hospitals, and social institutions in the city are working," Vilkul adds.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed Russia's night attack on Kryvyi Rih and reported that a fire broke out on the territory of an industrial enterprise, which was extinguished by rescuers.

"The energy infrastructure has been damaged, but no people were injured. 86 rescuers and 28 units of State Emergency Service of Ukraine equipment were involved in the work," the emergency services say.

In turn, Vilkul reports that the villages of Avanhard, Verabove, and Myrivske were left without electricity. According to him, energy companies are currently doing everything possible to restore power.

In addition, the head of the city's defense council reported on other events that took place during the night. In particular, there were no strikes in the Kryvyi Rih district, but in the Nikopol district, Russia attacked Nikopol and the Pokrovske community with heavy artillery and drones.

"Women aged 69 and 89 were injured. Three apartment buildings, four private houses, and three cars were damaged," he summarizes.
