On the night of December 20, Russia fired drones and missiles at Ukraine. In the morning, Russian occupiers also sent five ballistic missiles at Kyiv, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

According to the military, at about 7 a.m., Russia attacked Kyiv with five Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. The missiles were launched from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions of Russia.

Ukrainian air defense destroyed all 5 missiles. However, the falling wreckage of the downed Russian missiles caused damage and casualties.

The Ukrainian Air Force also reported that Russians launched 65 Shaheds and other types of drones in Ukraine overnight. The launches were made from four districts in Russia - Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

In addition, the Russian occupiers struck with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Rostov region and a Kh-59/69 guided missile from the airspace of the Kursk region.

Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 40 Russian drones, and another 20 simulator drones were lost in the area. The air defense system was operating in Kursk, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Consequences of Russian attack

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian strike damaged private homes, apartment buildings, medical facilities, warehouses, and farms in Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions.

In particular, a large-scale fire broke out in a warehouse in Kyiv region. A train was used to respond to the fire.

As a result of a Russian rocket attack in Kyiv, debris fell in five districts. One person was killed and 9 injured.
