Fires, fatalities, and damage after missile debris falls: Fallout from Russian strike
Due to a missile attack by Russia, debris fell in several locations in Kyiv, causing fires. However, the Holosiivskyi district was hit the hardest, with one fatality, office buildings damaged, cars burning, and a heating main compromised.
RBC-Ukraine provides a report below on the aftermath of the attack in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital.
Due to the debris falling in the district, five cars caught fire. The road surface and a heating main were damaged, leading to a rupture. The fire has been extinguished.
However, due to the damaged pipe, 630 residential buildings, 16 medical facilities, 17 schools, and 13 kindergartens are currently without heat. Crews from Kyivteploenergo have already started working to address the large-scale damage.
In the Holosiivskyi district, one fatality and one injured person were also reported.
At another address, debris fell, causing a fire on the 13th floor of a building. Structural collapses occurred, blocking the entrance to the 15th floor. Rescue crews are dismantling the debris, and local authorities report that people may still be trapped. Search operations are ongoing. The fire has been localized over an area of 60 square meters.
RBC-Ukraine visited the scene. It was revealed that the Toronto business center, located near the Olimpiiska metro station in the heart of the Holosiivskyi district on Velyka Vasylkivska Street, was damaged.

St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church is a historic building opposite the damaged Toronto business center. This church was constructed between 1899 and 1909 in the Gothic style. The church itself was not damaged.
Among other issues in the Holosiivskyi district, public transport has been delayed. According to Kyivpastrans, trolleybuses No. 19 and 31 and buses No. 20 and 25 are delayed. Delays are observed along Antonovycha Street toward Fedorova Street, where traffic is blocked.
Missile attack on Kyiv
After a night of Shahed drone attacks on Ukraine, including Kyiv, the enemy decided to launch a combined missile strike on the city. At around 7:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the Russians reportedly fired eight missiles at Kyiv. The enemy likely used Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft and ballistic missiles such as Iskander/KN-23.
Debris fell not only in the Holosiivskyi district but also in the Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, among others. Currently, it is known that one person died and nine were injured, with some hospitalized—more on the attack on Kyiv read in the RBC-Ukraine report.
