The Russian army launched nearly 500 strike drones against Ukraine overnight on September 28. In addition, the occupiers attacked with more than 40 missiles, including Kinzhal, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.

"Over 12 hours, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine. Brutal strikes, deliberate and targeted terror against ordinary cities—almost 500 strike drones and over 40 missiles, including Kinzhal. This morning, Russian-Iranian Shaheds are again in our skies," the president said.

The main targets of the attack were Kyiv and its region, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Odesa.

Under the attacks were a bread production facility, a tire factory, private and apartment buildings, and other civilian infrastructure.

"This vile attack came practically as the conclusion of the UN General Assembly week, and it shows Russia’s true position. Moscow wants to continue waging war and killing and deserves only the harshest pressure from the world," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The head of state stated that Ukraine will continue striking back to deprive Russia of opportunities to profit and to force it toward diplomacy. Zelenskyy expects a "strong response from the US, Europe, the G7, and the G20."
