Russia strikes Ukraine with 3 missiles and 48 drones: Air defense's work reported
Russian troops launched a combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense systems shot down more than half of the drones and a Kh-59/69 missile, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
“On the night of November 1, Russia struck Ukraine with 3 Kh-59/69 guided missiles from the airspace of the temporarily occupied Kherson region, and attacked with 48 Shahed-type attack UAVs and unidentified drones from the directions of Orel and Kursk,” the statement says.
Russia's tactical aviation struck Kharkiv, Sumy regions, and Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs.
Air defense's work
The Russian air attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“As of 8 a.m. Kyiv time, 31 Russian drones were confirmed downed, 14 drones were lost locally, and 3 UAVs flew away in the direction of Belarus. Ukrainian air defense also shot down one Kh-59/69 guided missile, while the rest did not reach their targets due to active opposition,” Ukrainian Air Force says.
Ukrainian air defense was operating in Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions.
Consequences of Russian attack on Ukraine
The alert in Kyiv and parts of the regions due to the threat of Russian drones was announced around 3 a.m. Kyiv time. In addition, at almost the same time, an explosion occurred near Kharkiv. Before that, launches of guided aerial bombs towards Kharkiv were recorded.
Russia struck Kharkiv and Derhachi after midnight Kyiv time. Residential infrastructure was destroyed, and there were no casualties.
In addition, as a result of the Russian missile and drone attack, several civilian enterprises were damaged by falling debris, and apartment buildings and private homes in Poltava, Cherkasy, Kyiv, and Odesa regions were also damaged.
