Russia strikes Ukraine with 141 drones overnight: Air defense's work reported
On the night of Monday, January 20, the Russian army launched 141 drones of various types in Ukraine. The drones were flying from 5 directions, the Ukrainian Air Force said.
On the night of January 20, 2025, from 7 p.m. Kyiv time on January 19, Russia attacked with 141 Shahed-type attack drones and imitator drones of various types from 5 directions: Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The Russians also fired an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Kursk region at the Sumy region.
Russian air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 8 a.m. Kyiv time, 93 Shahed attack drones and other types of drones were confirmed to have been shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.
Another 47 Russian imitator drones were lost locally (without negative consequences), 2 of which flew back to Russia.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, last week, during Russian attacks, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed over 30 missiles and 300 Russian drones.
On January 18, the Russians fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv. 3 people died as a result of a missile attack in Lukianivka in Kyiv. Russian troops also launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia.
