Russia struck Zaporizhzhia with ballistic missile: Buildings damaged, casualties reported
On the morning of Saturday, January 18, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia with ballistic weapons. As a result of the attack, there are destructions, buildings have been damaged, and people have been injured, reports the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
"Two people were injured as a result of the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia. The enemy struck the city center of the regional capital," Fedorov said at 06:54.
He clarified that due to the attack, an administrative building of one of the industrial facilities was partially destroyed. In addition, residential buildings and private vehicles were damaged.
Later, at 07:26, it became known that the number of casualties in Zaporizhzhia had increased to six.
"One woman is in serious condition. Two women and three men are in moderate condition. All the injured are in the hospital. Medical staff are providing the necessary assistance," wrote the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
He added that five ambulance crews are working at the impact sites.
Fedorov also summarized the situation over the past 24 hours. He informed that during this time, the enemy launched 241 strikes on 9 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region, specifically:
- Russian forces carried out 2 missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia;
- 132 drones of various modifications attacked Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka;
- 2 rocket artillery attacks struck Shcherbaky;
- 105 artillery shellings targeted the territories of Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka.
"Nine reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities," Fedorov concluded.
Russia's morning attack on Ukraine
In addition to Zaporizhzhia, Russia attacked Kyiv, causing fires, water leaks, and injuries in the city.
Specifically, the fall of ballistic debris was recorded in the Desnianskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. However, the most damage occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where at least three deaths are known, and according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, already four. Additionally, in this area, a non-residential building caught fire, windows were shattered, and there was smoke in the stairwell of a residential building. The glass elements of the entrance to the Lukianivska metro station were also damaged, among other things.
