Ballistic strike on Kyiv: Consequences
Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on the morning of January 18. The attack resulted in fires, and there were casualties, according to the Telegram channel of Kyiv City Military Administration head Timur Tkachенко and the channel of Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
Aerial alert was declared in Kyiv at 05:50 on January 18. Before and after the alarm, a series of explosions were heard. The Ukrainian Air Force informed that there was a threat of ballistic weapon use in the regions under air alert.
A few minutes later, local authorities reported that air defense systems were operating in Kyiv. Following further explosions, the media reported water outages in some areas of the capital.
By 06:04, Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported that a non-residential building was burning in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Emergency units were on their way to the scene. Later, it was confirmed that at least three people had died.
"Additionally, windows were shattered in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and there was smoke in the stairwells of a residential building. Glass elements of the entrance to the Lukiantska metro station were damaged. The station is now closed for entry and exit, with trains passing through without stopping," Klitschko informed at 06:28.
During this time, it was also reported that at 6:22 a.m., debris from the attack was found in the Desnyanskyi district.
Klitschko also reported that a water supply pipeline had been damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Repair crews are currently on their way to the site.

"There are already four dead and three injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv," said the head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Tkachенко.
Meanwhile, in the Holosiivskyi district, debris has been reported to have fallen, with no fire detected at this time.

The State Emergency Service reported on the aftermath of the Russian shelling in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
"Three cars have been set on fire. Ten cars have been damaged. There is also partial destruction of an administrative building, a business center, and a store. A major water pipeline has been damaged. A fire has been discovered in one of the buildings, which has already been localized," the message reads.
According to preliminary information, three people have died as a result of the strike, and three others have been injured (the Kyiv Military Administration, meanwhile, reports four dead).
The State Emergency Service also added that 84 rescuers are currently on-site, along with 22 units of primary and specialized firefighting equipment.

Around 5 a.m., Russian forces attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region with strike drones. Explosions were heard in both the capital and the region as air defense forces shot down enemy targets.
