Explosions heard in Kyiv and region as air defense targeted Russian drones
On the morning of January 18, explosions were heard in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Russia has once again launched drone attacks on Ukraine, and in response, air defense forces are active, according to the Telegram channel of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the channel of Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
"Kyiv region! Drones have been detected in the airspace. Air defense forces are working on targets," the message stated at 05:06.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration also urged Ukrainians to stay in shelters until the air raid alert is over. They further called for maintaining information silence and refraining from filming or posting on social media the activities of Ukrainian defenders.
A few minutes later, explosions were heard in Kyiv. The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, informed that air defense forces were active in the capital. This was also confirmed by Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
"Air defense forces are working on enemy drones in Obolon. Stay in shelters," he wrote at 05:14.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of enemy drones detected in both the region and over Kyiv.
During the previous night, Russian forces also attacked the Kyiv region with drones. As a result of debris falling, a private house and a car were damaged, and a fire broke out in a two-story building housing food establishments. Additionally, a 12-year-old boy sustained a leg injury.
