Strikes on Ukraine's railway infrastructure
Recently, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure, with rolling stock of Ukrzaliznytsia among the main targets. Since the beginning of March, numerous strikes on trains have been recorded.
On March 2, in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian drone struck a carriage of a suburban train that was in motion. As a result of the attack, one person was killed, and ten passengers were injured.
On March 4, the enemy attacked Mykolaiv with strike drones. There was a hit near a passenger train carriage, causing a fire.
On the same day, Russian forces carried out a missile strike on railway infrastructure in the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, an administrative building was damaged, and children were among the injured.
On March 8, Russian troops attacked a Kyiv-Sumy passenger train with a strike drone in the morning.
On March 14, a drone of the Russian forces hit the rear diesel locomotive of a passenger train in the Sumy region, which was operating on the Smorodyne–Vorozhba route.
In response, Ukrzaliznytsia strengthened safety measures for passengers and warned that in case of a threat during a trip, evacuation from the train may be announced.
