Russia strikes Ukraine's Kharkiv with a unique FPV drone for the first time: What it signals

For the first time since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army used an FPV drone with a man-portable anti-tank system-based warhead on Kharkiv, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov says.
"This is a new, even more insidious threat, which indicates an attempt to find vulnerabilities in the city's defense," Terekhov wrote.
He also clarified that there were a total of 7 Russian attacks on Kharkiv over the past week. As a result, 11 people were injured, including a child. A 14-year-old suffered a head injury. There were no killed.
"The destruction, as before, affected exclusively civilian infrastructure: private houses, multi-storey residential buildings, a printing house, and office premises were damaged," Terekhov noted.
Russian attack on Kharkiv
On the night of May 22, explosions were heard in Kharkiv. Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed this information, noting that the city was under Russian drone attacks. However, he later edited his post to remove the reference to drones. The next post referred directly to the missile strike.
Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine
Over the past three nights, the Russian army has been conducting massive combined attacks on Ukraine.
In particular, on the night of May 24, Russia launched a combined attack on Kyiv, using ballistic missiles and drones simultaneously. At that time, 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 250 attack drones were fired at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense destroyed 6 Russian missiles and neutralized 245 drones.
Also on the night of May 25, Russians attacked 13 regions of Ukraine. Then Russia used dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as about 300 drones.
And on the night of May 26, Russia launched a record number of attack drones and cruise missiles at Ukraine.
Russia struck Ukraine with:
- 9 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft
- 355 Shahed drones and various types of imitator drones.
