Russia has once again attacked Ukraine's gas infrastructure, causing damage, according to Naftogaz national oil and gas company of Ukraine.
Yesterday evening, December 1, and this morning, December 2, Russian drones attacked civilian gas infrastructure facilities that provide gas production and storage for Ukrainians.
No employees were injured. However, damage has been reported.
Operational services and company specialists are working on site to assess the extent of the damage and prepare for restoration work.
Teams will begin restoration immediately after receiving permission from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Attacks on Ukraine's gas infrastructure
In the fall, the Russians began systematically attacking Ukraine's gas infrastructure.
On the night of October 3, Russians carried out the largest attack on gas production infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Naftogaz facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions were hit.
On October 5, Russians continued to strike the gas infrastructure. As a result of another Russian attack, direct hits and destruction of civilian facilities that provide Ukrainians with gas during the heating season were recorded.
On the night of November 8, the Russians again attacked the gas infrastructure—this is the ninth massive strike on Ukraine's energy facilities since the beginning of October.
According to Serhii Koretskyi, head of the Naftogaz Group, Russia is deliberately targeting enterprises that provide Ukraine with gas and heat. As a result of the latest Russian attack, hits and damage to production equipment have been recorded.
With the start of the heating season in Ukraine, the gas volumes lost due to the war have to be compensated for by imports.
