On Thursday, January 1, Russians launched a drone strike on Ukraine's port infrastructure, striking the ports of Odesa and Izmail, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery, Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.

"During the Russian night air attack, damage to facilities in the ports of the Odesa region was recorded. Fortunately, there were no casualties," he says.

In the port of Izmail, port berths and equipment were damaged. In the port of Odesa, debris from Russian drones and the blast wave also damaged port equipment, transport, and infrastructure facilities.

Kuleba adds that rescuers and all relevant services are working at the sites of the strikes, and the elimination of the consequences and assessment of the damage is continuing.

Russian strikes on ports in Odesa region

On the night of December 26, the Russians launched a massive attack on port facilities in the Odesa region, causing damage to infrastructure.

As a result of the Russian strikes on the Pivdennyi port in the Odesa region, vegetable oil leaked into the Black Sea.

At the same time, oil-like stains and dead birds were found on two beaches in Odesa. An investigation into this incident has been launched.

During the Russian attack on December 23, a civilian ship flying the Lebanese flag, which was transporting Ukrainian soybeans, was damaged in the Odesa port.

On December 30, the Russians launched a kamikaze drone strike on civilian shipping. Two foreign ships in Ukrainian waters came under Russian fire.
