Russian forces carried out a drone strike on civilian shipping. Two foreign vessels located in Ukrainian waters came under attack, according to the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Navy said that throughout the day, the Russian army attacked the civilian vessels Emmakris III and Captain Karam with strike drones.

The vessel Captain Karam was entering a port to load wheat. As a result of the attack, civilians were wounded.

"Ports and civilian shipping are civilian infrastructure. Attacks on them pose a threat to the lives of peaceful civilians and undermine global food security," the Navy said.

The military stressed that deliberate strikes on civilian targets constitute a conscious war crime and that Russia is once again demonstrating its terrorist nature.

Strikes on ports in the Odesa region

Recently, Russia has significantly intensified attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure in an attempt to disrupt logistics and the operation of seaports.

In particular, on the night of December 26, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on port facilities in the Odesa region, damaging infrastructure.

As a result of the attack on the Pivdennyi port in the Odesa region, a spill of vegetable oil occurred in the waters of the Black Sea. Oil-like stains and dead birds were later found on two beaches in Odesa. An investigation was launched, and relevant services were dispatched to the site.

In addition, during an attack on December 23, a civilian vessel flying the Lebanese flag and transporting Ukrainian soy was damaged in the port of Odesa.
