Russia strikes Starokostiantyniv: Casualties reported, high-rise building and hotel damaged
Russian troops attacked Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region, on October 24. There were casualties and damage, and a fire broke out, according to the mayor of Starokostiantyniv, Mykola Melnychuk, and the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Serhii Tiurin.
According to the mayor, there are currently four victims, 2 of whom are in the hospital.
“A hotel building in the community was destroyed. The roof was completely blown off. In addition, windows and glass panes were smashed in high-rise buildings and private houses. All relevant services are currently working on the ground,” Melnychuk says.
At the same time, according to the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, one person sustained minor injuries.
Hotel and high-rise building damaged, fire broke out
In total, the Russian attack damaged a residential apartment building.
“The fire was extinguished by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Work is underway to dismantle the structures,” says Tiurin.
Also, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, the roof of a hotel and a non-residential building were damaged, and the blast wave damaged windows in one of the libraries in the region.
Russian attack on Ukraine
Russian troops attacked Ukraine on the night of October 24 with drones and missiles. In particular, the Russian invaders tried to attack Kyiv, and the capital was put on alert 3 times.
At the same time, the Ukrainian air defense system shot down all Russian kamikaze drones launched at Kyiv. The alert in the Khmelnytskyi region was announced at around 4 a.m. Kyiv time. At the same time, explosions were heard in the region.
In total, Russia launched 4 missiles and 50 drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense shot down 40 Russian drones.
