Russia strikes Ukraine with 4 missiles and 50 drones: Air defense's work reported
On the night of October 24, Russia launched 4 missiles and 50 drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense shot down 40 Russian drones, according to Ukrainian Air Force, and North operational command.
“On the night of October 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with 2 Kh-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 aircraft over the Black Sea, 2 Kh-59 guided missiles from the airspace of the Bryansk region, and 50 Shahed-type strike drones and unidentified drones from the directions of Orel, Kursk and Crimea,” the Ukrainian Air Force says in a statement.
The Russian air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“As of 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, 40 Russian drones were confirmed to have been shot down in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv regions,” the Ukrainian military says.
In particular, 6 Russian drones were shot down over the area of responsibility of the Siversk operational and tactical group of troops.
“Of these, 4 were destroyed by the forces and means of the Siversk operational and tactical group of troops, and 2 by the forces and means of the Air Command,” the North operational command notes.
In addition, 7 Russian drones were lost, 1 in Ukrainian airspace, 2 more were turned back in the direction of Russia and Belarus, and Russian missiles did not reach their targets.
“Combat work continues! Information is being updated,” the Ukrainian Air Force states.
