On the evening of June 21, Russian troops attacked Sumy with drones. Several Russian Lancet drones struck the city, according to the acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar.

"At about 5:30 p.m. Kyiv time, Russia attacked a civilian infrastructure facility. The Russian attack damaged the building of one of the enterprises. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Kobzar writes.

He also says that another Russian drone hit a high-rise building in the city. The roof of the building was damaged, but there were no casualties. In both cases, the Russians used Lancet drones.

"All necessary services are working on the spot. We are eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack," adds the acting mayor.

Lancet drones

ZALA Lancet is a Russian barrage munition that Russian troops have been actively using since the winter of 2022-2023. The Russians claim that this is an allegedly unique development of the ZALA Aero company. Characteristics:

  • air speed - up to 300 km/h;
  • flight radius up to 40 km;
  • maximum weight up to 12 kg.

Russian strikes on Sumy

On June 20, Russian troops damaged a high-rise building in Sumy in the evening. The Russian attack was also carried out with Lancet drones, which can reach the outskirts of the city.

On June 16, Russian troops attacked Sumy with drones at night and during the day. As a result of the Russian troops, windows in residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were smashed. On June 18, Russian troops attacked the outskirts of Sumy with multiple launch rocket systems. There were no casualties as a result of the Russian attack.
