Overnight on January 5, Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region, with significant damage reported in Fastiv district. Nearly a dozen houses, vehicles, garages, and warehouse facilities were damaged. One civilian was killed, according to the head of Kyiv Region Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.
“The attacks target peaceful towns and villages, ordinary people’s homes, and critical infrastructure. Terror against civilians continues,” Kalashnyk wrote.
The Kyiv Region Military Administration head specified that the civilian killed in Fastiv district was a man born in 1951. His body was found while firefighters were extinguishing a fire in his home.
“As of now, in Fastiv district, seven private houses and one multi-story residential building, garages, two vehicles, and production and warehouse facilities have been damaged,” the official reported.
It is also known that Slavutych has lost power due to the enemy attack - all critical infrastructure has been switched to backup power. The city still has heat and water.
Kalashnyk warned at 4:26 a.m. Kyiv time that the enemy attack is ongoing and urged residents of the region to seek shelter in safe locations.
