Syniehubov then updated the toll, stating that the number of injured had grown to 18, including four children.

On July 1, Russian forces carried out a massive airstrike on Kharkiv using guided aerial bombs. Several people were killed, and a few others were injured in the strike. Significant damage to civilian infrastructure was also reported.

Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor said Russian forces had been deliberately targeting the city's gas stations. He urged residents and visitors to avoid filling stations unless necessary.

Separately, authorities expanded the mandatory evacuation zone to include three additional districts in the Kharkiv region due to the deteriorating security situation near the Russian border and the front line.
