On July 1, Russian forces carried out a series of strikes with guided aerial bombs (KABs) on Kharkiv. The attack claimed lives, left people injured, and caused significant destruction, according to a Telegram post by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Update as of 6:00 p.m. Kyiv time

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that, according to updated data from the Situation Center, Russian forces carried out seven guided aerial bomb strikes on the city. Impacts were recorded in the Kyivskyi, Osnovianskyi, and Novobavarskyi districts.

According to Terekhov, information about a second fatality has not been confirmed. As of 6:00 p.m., one death is known — a 15-year-old boy. The number of injured has increased to 32 people.

The first reports of the attack appeared around 3:50 p.m. Kyiv time. Terekhov reported a guided aerial bomb strike on the Kyivskyi district.

Later, Terekhov said that the munition hit a private house, and, according to preliminary information, there were injured people.

After that, the mayor of Kharkiv reported another impact — in the Slobidskyi district.

At the same time, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, noted that another strike was preliminarily recorded in the Osnovianskyi district, where a fire broke out, and a car was damaged.

Terekhov later clarified that the impact occurred on the border between the Novobavarskyi and Osnovianskyi districts.

According to the Situation Center data cited by the mayor, five strikes on Kharkiv were preliminarily recorded: three in the Osnovianskyi district and two in the Kyivskyi district.

At 4:23 p.m., Syniehubov reported that six people were injured as a result of the attack, including a 16-year-old boy.

Later, the mayor confirmed the death of two people in the Novobavarskyi district. One of the victims was a 15-year-old boy.

Subsequently, Syniehubov reported that the total number of injured rose to 13, including two children.

At least four private houses were damaged in the city, a fire broke out, and windows were shattered in an administrative building.

Rescue and emergency operations are ongoing at the strike sites. Information about the consequences of the Russian attack is still being clarified.

As of 5:14 p.m., the number of injured had risen to 26 people. According to Terekhov, they were located across five sites in different districts of the city. The youngest injured child is only 1 year old, while the oldest injured person is 76.

Russian attacks on July 1

On July 1, Russia continued mass attacks on Ukrainian regions, using drones, ballistic missiles, and guided aerial bombs.

In Kherson, a Russian drone struck a shuttle bus. As a result of the attack, a child was killed, and two employees of the State Tax Service were injured. In addition, the blast wave damaged the building of the Main Department of the State Tax Service.

Russian forces also carried out a ballistic strike on the Odesa region. According to preliminary data, two people were killed, and 15 were injured, 11 of whom were hospitalized.
