Russia strikes Kharkiv with guided bombs, explosion reported
An explosion occurred near the city of Kharkiv overnight on November 17. Before this, Russian forces launched guided bombs toward the city, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

"Explosions are heard in the city – the enemy launched a guided air bomb towards the city," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Additionally, the mayor urged residents to stay in shelters during the air raid warning and remain cautious.
Before that, the Air Force of Ukraine warned about the launch of guided bombs by Russian forces toward the Kharkiv region.

Russian forces regularly carry out airstrikes on Kharkiv, including using guided bombs launched by Russian aircraft from the territory of the aggressor country. Additionally, the enemy targets the city with strike drones and hybrid missile-bomb systems such as the Grom-E1.
According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, Russian forces aim at civilian infrastructure during these attacks, including historical landmarks. These strikes represent deliberate terror by the enemy.
As reported earlier, on November 13, the Russian drone hit a residential building in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. Four people were injured in the attack. The day before, on November 12, Russian forces targeted the Saltivskyi district with a Molniya strike drone.
Overnight on November 9, an explosion occurred in Kharkiv due to an enemy airstrike. Local authorities warned of possible subsequent launches of guided air bombs. It was later confirmed that the Grom-E1 missile bomb hit an intersection of two districts, damaging civilian infrastructure, including a hypermarket, a hotel, and more.
At the end of October, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with guided bombs, targeting the central part of the city in the Shevchenkivskyi district. As a result of the attack, a medical facility and government buildings were damaged, including the iconic Derzhprom building, a national heritage site in Kharkiv. Nine people were injured in the attack.
