Russia strikes Kharkiv residential district: Children among injured
Russian troops shelled Kharkiv on Wednesday, May 8. The attack injured children, according to Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
The Russian occupiers attacked a residential area of the city. Three children were injured as a result of Russian shelling.
"The occupiers struck at Kharkiv. At least three children were injured. The details are being established," says the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
Later, Syniehubov said that a hit was recorded in an open area on the territory of an educational institution. According to him, there is information about three injured children - boys aged 12, 13 and 15.
According to the mayor, the condition of one of the injured children is serious.
Later, local authorities reported that the number of victims had increased to five. In addition to the three children, a 55-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman were also injured.
Later, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the injured children were in severe condition. According to him, three boys (aged 13, 14, 15) were playing football on a sports ground at the time of the Russian attack.
Explosions have been heard in Kharkiv several times today. The Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat of missile attacks on the Kharkiv region.
Kharkiv under daily Russian shelling
Kharkiv suffers from Russian shelling due to its proximity to the border with Russia. The occupiers attack the city with missiles, anti-aircraft guns, drones, and other weapons.
In the spring, Russians intensified their shelling of Kharkiv. Moreover, intelligence notes that the Russians probably have a plan for a new offensive on Kharkiv, but the Russian occupiers have not accumulated the necessary amount of force.
On the night of May 8, the Russian army also attacked Kharkiv. The Russian occupiers sent kamikaze drones to the city. Two Shahids were shot down in the northern part of Kharkiv. Fortunately, no one was injured.
