Russian forces launched another attack on Kharkiv overnight on November 8. The attack damaged and partially destroyed buildings, causing casualties, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

The first explosions were heard around 3:03 AM (Kyiv time), and the second round of blasts followed about 30 minutes later.

Strike at the city center

Terekhov later confirmed that the last two strikes hit areas with dense residential and historical buildings in central Kharkiv. Syniehubov clarified that these were in the Shevchenkivskyi district. The attack damaged administrative buildings and residential homes. Emergency services are continuing their assessment.

Shelling of Saltivka

One of the enemy missiles struck a 12-story building in the Saltivskyi district, causing several floors to collapse and trapping people under the rubble. A fire also broke out.

Syniehubov stated that the partial destruction affected the building’s entrance from the 1st to the 3rd floor. Surrounding buildings were also damaged.

As of 4:31 AM, the number of casualties in the Saltivka high-rise had risen to 10.

"A three-month-old infant and 13 others were injured in Saltivka," Terekhov reported.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the number of wounded continues to rise, with 25 injured at this time.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, stated that medics, emergency responders, utility services, and a rapid response team are working at the impact sites. The team is already repairing windows in affected buildings that were shattered by the blast wave.

Oleh Syniehubov detailed the missile strike on Kharkiv, stating the enemy struck the city at 3:30 AM. The Saltivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts were impacted.

In Saltivka, a missile hit an apartment building. Rescue teams are currently clearing the rubble.

“Twenty-five people were injured, five of whom were hospitalized in medical facilities; the victims' conditions are moderate to mild. Thirty people, including four children, were evacuated,” the statement reads.

A section of the building entrance from the first to the third floor was partially destroyed. Nearby residential buildings, five cars, and metro station entrances were also damaged.

In the city center, the enemy struck an open area. The attack damaged historic buildings, public spaces, and residential buildings.

Another hit occurred near residential buildings and in the city center. At least six apartment buildings, shops, commercial pavilions, vehicles, and metro station entrances sustained damage. There were no injuries.

“These 500-kilogram aerial bomb strikes are deliberate acts of terror by the enemy. My thanks go to all services and volunteers working to rescue people and address the aftermath,” Syniehubov added.

Meanwhile, overnight, from November 7 to 8, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on the Odesa district. Private homes were damaged in the assault, and one educational facility suffered broken windows and facade damage.

Additionally, shrapnel damage in Odesa led to the depressurization and ignition of two gas pipelines. Windows were shattered in several buildings as well.

Within an hour after midnight, reports confirmed two people were injured.
