Russia's drone attack on Odesa: Houses damaged, casualties reported
Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on the Odesa district overnight from November 7 to 8. As a result of the strike, civilian infrastructure was damaged, and there are reports of casualties, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
According to Kiper, the Russian drone attack caused damage to private residential buildings in Odesa and the surrounding area, with several buildings catching fire. Windows were shattered, and the facade of one of the city’s educational institutions was damaged.
In addition, the explosion of shrapnel led to a gas leak and fire in two gas pipelines in Odesa. Several buildings had their windows blown out.
As of now, two people are known to have been injured.
“All relevant emergency services are working to address the aftermath. Assistance is being provided to the victims. Law enforcement is documenting the consequences of yet another Russian crime against the civilian population of the Odesa region,” Kiper added.
Earlier on November 7, explosions were heard in Odesa. The Ukrainian Air Force had warned residents of the city about the potential for a drone attack.
