Russia strikes energy facility in Sumy region, leaving 37,000 without power
On the morning of October 20, Russian troops struck an energy facility in the Sumy region, leaving over 100 settlements without power, reports Sumyoblenergo.
"This morning, the Russian army struck one of the energy facilities in the Sumy region, temporarily leaving over 37,000 consumers in the Romny district without power across 104 settlements," the report states.
Additionally, energy officials reported that more than 14,000 electricity consumers were cut off due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation in border areas of the Sumy region, affecting 130 settlements.
"All efforts of the energy workers are focused on restoring electricity distribution to each household," the power company confirmed.
Shelling in the Sumy region
Russian troops continually shell the Sumy region. For example, on October 19, they also attacked an energy facility in the region, prompting emergency power outages.
It is worth noting that on the night of October 19, Russian forces targeted Shostka in the Sumy region with guided bombs and Shahed drones, damaging energy and infrastructure facilities.
Furthermore, the occupiers shelled a fire station in Shostka, partially destroying the building. As a result of the shelling in Shostka, a total of eight people were injured, including rescuers. Additionally, one person was killed, with their body found under the rubble of one of the buildings.
