On the night of and in the morning of October 17, Russia attacked energy facilities in 10 regions of Ukraine. Some consumers were left without power, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.

Russia attacked a number of energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and Kharkiv regions.

As a result, some residents were left without power. So far, utility workers have restored power to more than half a million consumers.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine notes that repair work is ongoing wherever the security situation permits. Restoration efforts are being hampered by constant air raid alerts and the threat of renewed Russian strikes.

Due to grid constraints caused by previous Russian attacks, hourly power outage schedules are in effect today in a number of regions of Ukraine, and power restriction schedules for industry and business are in effect in all regions.

Power outage schedules have even been introduced in western regions.

Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure

On October 16, the Russians launched strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure throughout the day. Russian attacks caused damage in Kyiv and five regions, leading to emergency power outages.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin ordered his army to continue massive strikes against Ukraine.

Putin made this statement after Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, reported to him on the start of massive strikes against Ukraine's energy facilities.
