Russia has completely forgotten about the "energy ceasefire" with Ukraine announced by US President Donald Trump. It is threatening new strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, according to Russian Armed Forces Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Russia threatens strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
Russian leader Vladimir Putin visited an auxiliary command post of the Joint Group of Forces. Gerasimov reported to him that the Russian military would strike Ukraine's energy facilities.
The alleged justification was to retaliate for attacks by the "Kyiv authorities" on Russian industrial and defense-sector enterprises. However, Russia has never stopped striking Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, even during the energy ceasefire, announced by Trump.
"Russian troops continue to strike Ukraine's defense industry enterprises," Gerasimov added.
He also stated that, as part of Russia's military plans, strikes were being carried out against Ukraine's strategically important bridges.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russia had been striking Ukraine's energy facilities since the morning of October 16. The attacks damaged facilities in Kyiv and five regions.
In addition, during a massive attack earlier this week, Russian forces struck all three of Kyiv's thermal power plants at once.
