Russia strikes Cherkasy region: Gas pipeline caught fire, village partially without electricity

On the night of June 16, 18 Russian drones were shot down in the skies over the Cherkasy region. However, the wreckage of the downed drones damaged a gas pipe, causing a fire, says Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy regional military administration.
"Ukrainian air defense forces were working in the region until late at night. They repelled another Russian attack. Ukrainian defenders destroyed 18 Russian drones in the Cherkasy sky," says the head of the regional military administration.
Taburets emphasizes that there were no casualties.
At the same time, in the Cherkasy district, a Russian drone hit a low-pressure gas pipe. This caused a fire in the yard, but it was quickly extinguished.
According to preliminary data, 4 houses were damaged, and a wooden garage was destroyed. The village is also partially without electricity. Restoration work is ongoing.
Russian attack on Ukraine
On June 16, Russians launched 138 Shahed drones and imitators at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 125 Russian drones. Hits were recorded in 10 locations, and the downed drones fell in 8 locations. Read more in RBC-Ukraine's report.
In Kyiv, the Russian attack resulted in injuries, damage to private homes, and trade pavilions. The wreckage of the downed drones fell in several districts of Kyiv.
