Russian forces have stepped up activity near Ukraine's Orikhiv. They are seeking to take advantage of poor weather conditions to move sabotage and reconnaissance groups closer to the city, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn said.
He said that over the past few days, Russian forces have resumed activity in the Orikhiv direction.
"Mainly, this is near Orikhiv itself, where, according to our intelligence, the enemy has been tasked with taking advantage of the deteriorating weather conditions that meteorologists are currently talking about to move infiltration and sabotage groups toward Orikhiv itself, closer to the city," Voloshyn said.
The Southern Defense Forces spokesperson noted that at the same time, the Russian army continues to intensively bombard Orikhiv and other settlements in southern Ukraine with guided aerial bombs.
According to him, around ten guided aerial bombs were dropped on Orikhiv in the past day alone. Overall, on the southern front, the enemy carries out up to 25 airstrikes every day, using around 100 such bombs.
Russian forces continue to strike Zaporizhzhia. On July 9, Russian forces attacked the city, targeting a gas station. A few days earlier, on July 6, they also attacked a gas station in Zaporizhzhia. Two people were killed, and nine others were injured in the attack.
On the evening of July 4, Russian troops launched a series of strikes on the city. A multi-story residential building and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged, and casualties were also reported.
On the evening of July 3, Russian drones struck Nova Poshta (Ukraine's largest private postal and parcel delivery company) Branch No. 7 in Zaporizhzhia. A company employee was killed in the attack.
Earlier that same day, Russians dropped guided aerial bombs on one of the city's enterprises, killing one person. Later, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia again. During the second strike, two women who were outside were injured.
It was later reported that the number of people injured in that attack had risen to 21. Among the wounded were two children — a 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
