Russian recruiters have received a list of countries from which it is no longer allowed to enlist foreigners to fight against Ukraine. This concerns states considered "friendly" to Russia, according to the Vazhnye Istorii (Important Stories) project.

Which countries made the 'stop' list

According to journalists, Russian recruiters were given a list of 36 countries whose citizens can no longer be enlisted under contract.

Among them are Cuba, China, India, Türkiye, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Israel.

List was expanded in February

The outlet notes that in February, seven more countries were added to the list: Colombia, Argentina, Cameroon, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Iraq.

The existence of such a list was also confirmed by one of the major regional contract recruitment centers.

Who exactly decided to restrict the recruitment of foreigners is currently unknown.

According to journalists, the likely reason may have been diplomatic agreements aimed at avoiding tensions in relations with partner countries.

Russia recruits foreigners

Earlier, the government of India reported at least 200 cases of its citizens being recruited by Russian recruiters to participate in the war against Ukraine. According to official data, at least 26 Indians have died, and seven more are reported missing.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged African countries to take decisive measures to counter Russian recruitment schemes, which involve young people from various states on the continent in the war.

More about how citizens of African countries end up on the front lines, fall into captivity, and what they say about the Russians can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
