Russia plans to scale up its production of ballistic missiles. Ukraine will counter the Kremlin’s plans, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We now also have updated data on Russia’s production of ballistic missiles and its plans to scale up that production. We will counter this, and it is important that there be corresponding sanctions support in the world’s major jurisdictions,” the head of state emphasized.
The president noted that the supply of components, equipment, and machine tools used by the aggressor country to produce missiles must be completely blocked.
“And this is also the responsibility of our partners – without foreign components, the Russians are unable to implement a single element of their missile program,” Zelenskyy stated.
Russian military has begun striking Kyiv with an upgraded ballistic missile named Iskander-1000. Thanks to a more powerful engine and a larger launch platform, the missile is capable of striking targets at greater distances.
Yurii Ignat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, has reported a shortage of air defense missiles not only for Patriot systems but also for ground-based and airborne platforms.
According to him, strengthening Ukraine’s air defense for the fall and winter period has come up in every conversation Zelenskyy has had with European leaders.
