This morning, May 24, Russian ships carrying Kalibr missiles were spotted in the Black Sea. Russia has deployed these missile carriers on combat duty. The last time missile carriers were recorded in this area was two weeks ago, on May 9, according to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command reported that as of 6:00 AM Kyiv time on Saturday, two Russian ships carrying Kalibr missiles were spotted in the Black Sea, capable of launching up to 12 such cruise missiles in total.

From May 3 to May 10, no Russian missile carriers were recorded in the Black Sea, while on May 9, they deployed three Kalibr carriers in the area, with a total salvo of up to 14 missiles.

The Ukrainian Naval Forces reported that this morning, there were no Russian ships in the Sea of Azov.

They also added that three Russian ships are currently detected in the Mediterranean Sea, one of which carries Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo of up to 8 missiles.

Additionally, the command informed that within the last 24 hours, in Russia’s interests, the following transit through the Kerch Strait occurred:

  • To the Black Sea: 10 vessels, of which 8 continued towards the Bosporus Strait,

  • To the Sea of Azov: 7 vessels, of which 5 came from the Bosporus Strait.

On May 19, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that its forces conducted a combined special operation using maritime and aerial drones in the Black Sea. As a result of the forces' actions, Russian reconnaissance equipment was destroyed.

Recently, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces released archival footage showing the destruction of the Russian cruiser Moskva three years ago.
