Over three years ago, Ukrainian forces destroyed the Russian cruiser Moskva in the Black Sea. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released archived footage of the strike on the Russian warship.

The General Staff noted that a book dedicated to the destruction of the warship Moskva had been published. They also released a video that, in its opening frames, shows the moment of the strike - the footage captures a missile hitting the bow of the ship.

However, later, the General Staff removed the video from its page.

Warship Moskva

The warship Moskva was built in 1976 at a shipyard in Mykolaiv. The vessel, a little over 186 meters in length and nearly 21 meters wide, had a crew of about 500 people.

Destruction of warship Moskva

In early April 2022, Ukrainian forces sank the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet - the warship Moskva.

Ukrainian-made Neptune missiles targeted an enemy vessel. The ship was initially hit and caught fire. However, the Russians failed to save Moskva, and the crew went down with the ship.
